Why You Should Be Targeting Buyer Keywords

As I have mentioned previously in a post about keyword research, identifying the right keywords can make all the difference in terms of how much you can profit. While you can rank for just about any keyword if you do enough link building, it’s ultimately best to choose the ones that you can rank for rather quickly. This is where targeting buyer keywords comes in.

What Are Buyer Keywords?

Simply put, buyer keywords are the phrases that users type in when they are on the verge of or ready to buy a product. These phrases could include the title of a product, the model number, and any product with the word “buy” in front of it.

For example, let’s say a person types in the phrase “Makita LS1216L” into Google. This is the brand and model of a miter saw. Now, typically when someone is searching for a product title, they are either looking for a review or to buy the product. Either way, this person is either looking to buy, or is on the verge of buying. Either way, this is the type of targeted visitor that we want.

What’s also great about targeting buyer keywords is that there isn’t a lot of competition for them. This means that they are not hard to get first page rankings for.

The phrase “Makita LS1216L” has only 89,000 competing sites for this phrase and gets 720 searches per month from Google alone. There are virtually no other authority sites on page 1 for this phrase. You might be able to get on page one of Google for this term in 2 weeks or less.

All you have to do is write a review about the product and do some promotion. When people then search for “Makita LS1216L” they will come across your site. This is an extremely targeted visitor you are getting. They know exactly what they want. This increases your chances significantly of getting an affiliate sale.
